... Cultural Theory : "Semiotics is about understanding how the world of culture works. ... We manipulate the codes of culture... "

CT [w] : Culture theory is the branch of anthropology, semiotics, and other related social science disciplines (e.g., sociology) that seeks to define the heuristic concept of culture in operational and/or scientific terms. In the 19th century, "culture" was used by some to refer to a wide array of human activities, and by others as a synonym for "civilization". In the 20th century, anthropologists began theorizing about culture as an object of scientific analysis. 2008 updates -- blog Performability versus Readability: this study focuses on the interface of two theoretical framework 'the Semiotics of Theater and Theater Translation' as well as on the theoretical polarization between the notions of performability and readability in Theater Translation since the mid-1980s.
The difference between performability (mise en scene) and readability (written text), is the difference between dramatic (language) and stage (languages).
